The Dhaka Metro Rail Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) is a new metro rail system. Dhaka, Bangladesh.The public transport system will aid in the economic of the greater Dhaka area. Dhaka was faceing traffic congestion. We have pollution issues. A total of five lines, MRT Lines 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6. Agargaon was inaugurated in December 2022. It commenced operations in January 2023. Line of 6 is expected to be completed in 2023.Three comprising a 1.16km extension from Kamalapur to Motijheel will open in 2025. The extension will be interconnected in future.The maximum speed of the train is expected to be 100km/h. CCTV cameras will be deployed inside and outside.each car will have two air-conditioning units to beat the high temperatur. Each car will have four doors on each side.
First Passenger on Dhaka-Metro Rail
PM Sheikh Hasina became the first passenger to travel on the metro rail.She was the Bangladesh’s first-ever elevated metro rail. Our PM purchasing a ticket that day. The first ever metro train, carrying Sheikh Hasina. Sheikh Hasina’s younger sister Sheikh Rehana and around 200 passengers, left from North Uttara to Agargaon at 1.53pm on Wednesday. The 200 passengers included freedom fighters, ministers, government officials, diplomats, school students, others. The PM bought the metro ticket around 1.35 pm at the North Uttara station. Mariam Afiza drove the train. And Mariam Afiza, the driver who operated the inaugural journey of the country’s first metro rail.For security reasons, only the prime minister and the VVIP guests will board the metro rail on the inauguration day.
How to Travel
The authorities fixed the fare for the metro rail at Tk5 per kilometre. Minimum fare of Tk20.A passenger will have to pay Tk100 to travel the full length of the route from Uttara to Kamalapur.Buses operated by the (BRTC) will ply from Agargaon and Uttara North (Diabari) the passengers of metro rail.
